Oil Tank Removal

Professional heating oil tank dismantling service! Since December 31, 2023, Quebec prohibits the replacement of oil heating systems with another fossil fuel system in existing residences. Whether your tank is indoor, outdoor, or buried underground, it must be removed by qualified professionals to prevent any risk of contamination.

Why remove your oil tank?

Environmental risks

An aging tank can develop fuel oil leaks that contaminate soil and groundwater. Buried tanks pose an even greater risk, as leaks can go undetected for a long time.

Property value

The presence of an oil tank — especially a buried one — significantly decreases your property value. Its removal is an asset when selling and reassures potential buyers and financial institutions.

Legal requirement

Quebec regulations require the removal of unused tanks. Work must be carried out by a contractor holding an appropriate RBQ license, in compliance with the CSA B139 Installation Code and the National Fire Prevention Code (NFPC).

How does the dismantling process work?

  • Pumping of residual liquids inside the tank
  • Complete cleaning of the tank
  • Disconnection and removal of piping
  • Safe dismantling of the tank
  • Compliant transport and disposal of materials
  • Recycling of oils and fuel oil residues

Indoor, outdoor and buried tanks

Our technicians handle all types of oil tanks, whether installed indoors, outdoors, or buried underground. For underground tanks, excavation may be required and a soil characterization will be performed to detect any contamination. If needed, we will provide a decontamination plan that meets all environmental requirements.

Insurance savings

Removing your oil tank can help reduce your home insurance premiums. Additionally, you reclaim valuable space in your basement and permanently eliminate the risks of leaks and spills.

By switching to an electric heating system, you also benefit from more predictable energy costs and a significant reduction in your greenhouse gas emissions.
